How on earth to install on ubuntu 24.04 LTS

Would someone please help me get openbolt installed on ubuntu 24.04 LTS?

Cannot find docs on where to find openbolt or what location to install to if I start git repo.

I hate Perforce. Making us jump through hoops here.

we published our first stable gem release a few days back: https://rubygems.org/gems/openbolt

We didn't publish packages yet. If you want you can speed up the process by joining the sig-openbolt (https://voxpupuli.org/connect/) channel or get a support contract from one of the companies that support OpenVox (https://voxpupuli.org/openvox/support/).

I was able to install it as a ruba gem by doing gem install openbolt. You need to have the ruby development packages (ruby-dev on Ubuntu) and a build environment (build-essential on Ubuntu) installed for this. You may need additional gems (e.g. bcrypt_pbkdf and ed25519 for elliptic curve ssh keys).

Yep the basics of getting started with the gem are

apt install ruby-dev build-essential

gem install openbolt

Additional gems needed (my project has a Gemfile so I install them there, but you could just gem install ____ these as well).

gem 'bcrypt_pbkdf', '~> 1.0'

Finally, the package automatically includes all the modules in the OpenBolt's Puppetfile. So depending on your usage you may need to add some of these modules to you bolt-project.yml so that they are available to the gem, which does not ship with the default modules. They are decently named and grouped by use case, but happy to help figure out which ones you need if you hit any issues.
