HUD problems

Mantle messes up customized HUDs, causing incompatibility.

Minecraft version: 1.20.1
Mantle version: 1.11.79
Versions of Mantle dependant mods: none required
Forge version/build: 47.4.0

I really wish there was a version of mantle that allowed me to use mods such as Tinker's Construct without screwing with my hearts.

Sounds like your custom hud is not properly using the Forge event. After making your changes you need to update the UI height which Mantle will then read.

Report this issue to them and link the issue here.

Aside, you can disable the mantle heart renderer in the config. That doesn't make this issue solved as it's still a bug in your custom HUD mod.

Would you know how I can disable the heart renderer in the config? I didn't see that option anywhere.

Also, I'm not sure exactly which HUD mod is causing the issue. It might be the additional item hotbar one. I'll have to go through my mods and find it - but I like having lots of hearts rather than different heart colors, so either way I'd still like to disable the mantle heart rendering.
