Napari not rendering nViz 0.0.5

All trials here were using the cli with python version 3.13.

When using the nViz function view_zarr with nViz 0.0.5 the napari tries to open, and then closes within a few seconds. This is the code I am using, except I have changed the nViz version from 0.0.4 to 0.0.5. I have also tried viewing OME-zarr files created with the tiff_to_zarr function in nViz versions 0.0.4 and 0.0.5. Then I tried viewing these files with the view_zarr function using both nViz 0.0.4 and 0.0.5, but I was only able to view files with nViz 0.0.4.

I've noticed the same crashing behavior when I implement the nviz functions in python code, and then try to call the python code from a bash script. However, napari seems to render correctly when the code is run in a notebook.

Thanks @MattsonCam for raising this. Given what you mentioned here I wonder if uvx is caching the version used somehow, or if there's a way to validate the environment somehow.

That could be a good next step, I also tried installing nViz with uv and running the nViz python code from bash (without using the cli). In this case the pyproject.toml file shows it is v 0.0.5, but I'm not sure how I would check this with uvx. When I use the cli, I do specify the version of nViz with uvx --python 3.13 --with nviz==0.0.5 ... though.
