Provide support for lazy dereferencing

smartDereference aggressively dereferences everything. Support a method of lazy dereferencing.

Possibly solution: a DereferencingProxy class that wraps any object (plain or immutable) and supplies get method that takes the same arguments as createPath. It would need to support dereferencing with array and object iteration
