Permanent Offline Mode

Ever since today’s update, ShelfPlayer has remained in offline mode. When I select “Go Online,” it briefly loads and then immediately reverts back to offline mode.

I’ve updated the server, logged out of the app on my phone, and logged back in, but it still goes offline immediately. This happens both at home and away from home. I was even able to find and log into my server while at work, and it still switched to offline mode right after.

At this point, it seems likely that the issue is related to the update itself.

Hey,

the new offline mode attempts to ping your server twice, with a timeout of 2.5 seconds. Is it possible that the connection speed is an issue?

I’m not too sure what you mean by connection speed, but I have tested other Audiobookshelf apps on this same phone and they have no issues connecting while I'm away from home. Even using the Audiobookshelf web browser works perfectly.

It seems like since ShelfPlayer is cutting the connection at 2.5 seconds, it’s likely bailing out before my server has a chance to respond. Could you increase that timeout or make it a user-adjustable setting?

Version 3.2.1 has not been reviewed yet and I updated the build to include the fix, could you please confirm if it worked after it is available in the AppStore?

It still has the same issue, it might be a specific to IOS 18.6.2 which is an older version. Thanks for trying though.

If you send me an E-Mail to git@rfk.io I can create a test build with a much larger timeout for you. Also please share the debug logs from the help menu, they might provide me some insights into your problem.

I've been having the same issue, on an iPhone 16 on the current version of iOS - 26.3.1. It only started recently, worked just fine for a very long time before then - so I guess it's related to the same change.
