This is meant to help those on the other hemisphere or on the other side of the prime meridian to debug why the sunset/sunrise time is off if they forget the minus.

I think this comment should be updated as well. Maybe something like Append degree symbols after %f if possible?

Thanks, I think this is a good way to make it more clear when the longitude is mistakenly negated.
